An important quote from RILRG's
August World-wide Literacy Newsletter
"If your clubs in your disricts are interested in achieving a District Literacy Award, don't let them be disqualified this early in the year by not celebrating September 8th (Interantional Literacy Day) in some way."
Roger Hayward - North American Area Coordinator
(According to RILRG, the celebration needs to happen within a week of September 8.)

Team Literacy in District 6900
What a stimulating Team Literacy meeting we had on Sunday, August 10, to share the possibilities for literacy in this Rotary year. Please know that the great year ahead will be in so many ways thanks to the superb energy on this team. We are excited to help clubs celebrate their good works in literacy. Making your dreams real in literacy is what our year is all about. As chair, I am grateful to have such dynamic minds and commitment as is demonstrated by (second left to right) Doug Higgins (Rotary Club of North Fulton), Terri Huddleston (Rotary Club of Griffin Daybreak), and PDG Steve Stanfield (Rotary Club of Americus). What an extraordinary team to build an extraordinary year! Help us to help you - be certain to send a representative to a Literacy Information Meeting!

Literacy Information Meetings
I am repeating this article to ensure that no club misses out on sending a literacy representative to one of the Literacy Information Meetings. Please register for the meeting of your choice on the District Database. Go to Calendar, scroll through the various dates and locations, and click on register. Attending one of these meetings will be excellent for President Elects as well as Assistant Governors and particulary meaningful to this year's Presidents and/or literacy chairs.
RILRG (Rotary Interantional Literacy Recourse Group) meets each May in Evanston, IL, to chart a direction for literacy activities in the coming Rotary year. That information is important, and in order to best equip each club for a successful literacy year, I am scheduling literacy information meetings in several locations so that every club in our district will have one of the meetings within reasonable reach. Attending one of the meetings is important as there are changes in literacy expectations that will definitely impact your clubs.
Refreshments will be served, connections will be made, and ideas will be shared - tossed lightly with a bit of fun.
