 May 15, 2008

It is with great pleasure that I accept the position of Club President of the Rotary Club of Fayetteville for 2008-2009.  I am very excited about this opportunity to lead our Club.  We have a very good group of Officers and Directors that are ready to have a wonderful year and Make Dreams Real.

Contained in this report are a number of initiatives that are designed to make it a wonderful year and meet our objectives for 2008-2009.

·         Increase Community Awareness of Rotary

·         Enhance and Strengthen our Club

·         Support Rotary International / Rotary Foundation

·         Continue to support and assist our Interact Clubs

We will challenge our board to bring one new member per board member in order to meet our challenge of 2 new net members.  We will focus our projects and accomplishments to receive the Governor’s Citation.

Community Service will support projects that include: Aids/Education, CART Program, Environmental Issues, Vocational projects, community projects, and the Club Service Fundraisers.

International Service will include the $1,000 financial support towards the district 6900 international water projects.  We are involved with a local group with an international water project in Nicaragua.  The club will also provide money to buy clay water pots for the project to help provide clean water.

Club Administration will focus on continuation of the weekly bulletin.  We have appointed a program director to enhance our speakers for better attendance from our membership.  We will have four family of Rotary functions throughout our upcoming year.  We will do “Rotarian Spotlight” which will allow our members to give a short time to tell us about each other before our speaker’s once per month.  We will also form a Sergeant at Arms corp.  This will consist of some of our new members and several of our more senior members.  The objective is to bring new members and senior members to a task they can accomplish together.  That task is to create a fun environment for all of our meetings.  They will be in charge of pranks, sunshine, Rotary moment and general Tom Foolery!

The Rotary Foundation will continue to receive support from our members at a level of $125 per member.

New Generations will involve our club in programs to serve our young people in our community.  Our hands on support of the Interact Club at Fayette County High School and White Water High School will make those clubs a success.  We will engage members of our club to be mentors to this group.  We will support Auburn Youth World Affairs Seminar and assist with the Laws of Life Essay Contests at the schools.  We will support each club by awarding a sch olarship to RYLA to each club.

Public Relations will concentrate on having continued weekly updating of the website.  We will be continuing to have press releases to the local media.  We will also attempt to receive the Public Relations Grant in order to bring us more visibility in the community.  We are also seeking permission from local government to have signage in the main area of the community to help with our club visibility.

Membership will be focusing on recruitment and new member orientation.  We will develop a package of material for prospective members and new members for orientation.  We will get our newest members involved with the club.  The goal is to have two new net members by years end.  We feel the improved programs will also help us with membership retention.

We have a wonderful and exciting year ahead of us for 2008-2009.  I am very thrilled to have this opportunity and look forward to a fun year as we lead our teams to Make Dreams Real.

                                                                                      Sincerely,
