ROTARY CLUB OF FAYETTEVILLE, GEORGIA 2008-2009

MEETING June 09

 

COMMITY OF VOCATIONAL SERVICES

 

 

OVERALL OBJECTIVE: The overall objective through the avenue of vocational service is to implement and encourage vocational service projects. Focus on Rotary awareness in the community through leadership and support vocational programs of our community.

 

OVERALL STRATEGY:

In order to accomplish this overall goal, we ask our members to conduct themselves, their business and their professions in accordance with ROTARY principles and to respond to projects with the club. The projects for year 2008-2009 are following:

 

  1. To encourage and maintain ‘ROTARY SPOTLIGHT’ classification presentations by club members
  2. Continue club literacy program by purchasing books for Fayetteville library in honor of our program guest speakers.
  3. During Vocation service month in October will recognize Employee of the year in Municipal, Police, Emergency services, Fireman, Health Care worker, and Teacher of the year.  
  4. We will organize and promote participation in Career Days at Fayette County High School and McIntosh High School. To get local Rotaract and Interact clubs involved more in coordination of the event. February month.
  5. We will investigate how our club could more participate in mentoring programs for school students, also more involve in Essay Writing Contest to help with evaluation process.
  6. We will keep on raising funds for literacy programs in order to help adults with GED tests.
  7. We will keep raising funds for Wheel Chair foundation, shipping books overseas, or Fayette County Field of Hope for defibrillators.
  8. We will look at possibilities to coordinate projects with International Committee involving other Rotary Clubs of different districts, and receive a matching grant for those projects.

NEW GENERATIONS

“Make Dreams Real”

 

Overall Objective:         Instill Fayetteville Rotary’s “service above self” and the “Four Way Test” in our community’s young people by example and interaction to make dreams real

 

Overall Strategy:           Participate in targeted initiatives and community service projects to foster leadership, citizenship and personal growth with our local youth

 

In order to accomplish the overall objective with the strategy listed, I am asking our members to support and focus on the following activities and projects for the 2008-2009 New Generations year.

 

1. Georgia Afterschool Investment Council - GAIC

  • Dedicated to ensuring youth have access to high quality and affordable programs
  • Educate by suggesting members subscribe to the monthly emails
  • Suggest volunteering time and expertise in local afterschool programs

 

2. Interact Clubs – Whitewater and Fayette County High Schools

·        Sponsor and participate in the Laws of Life Essay Contest to build character in local youth

·        Sponsor and participate in projects and activities such as the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Southern Crescent Alzheimer’s Walk and Christmas Collections for needy families at Christmas

·        Hold and attend meetings to advance international understanding, goodwill and peace through fellowship of the students

·        Attend and participate in Fall Leadership Training and Spring Conference

 

3. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards - RYLA

  • Support and encourage the training of local youth leaders in responsible, effective leadership
  • Publicly recognize local youth who are giving back to the community as leaders
  • Support attendance of RYLA Conference through scholarship and encouragement

 

I appreciate your confidence in me to lead and oversee our objectives as New Generations Chair.  I will solicit ideas from all members and endeavor to promote them as they apply to the objective.  I look forward to working with each member this year to “Make Dreams Real.”
